Ripon Food Tour details
3.5 hours | 4 stops | £75pp
Ripon has plenty to offer for food lovers. This little gem has a fantastic community of independent cafes, restaurants and pubs. Our guided Ripon Food Tour blends traditional British food with some global specialities, giving you a true taste of this small but mighty city.
One of our local food tour guides will meet you in the city centre before your tour. They will guide you around four of the best independent restaurants in Ripon.
You’ll meet the people behind the venues, as they serve you a selection of delicious dishes to delight your taste buds. From tempting tapas and aromatic curries to locally grown produce, you’ll never be stuck for places to eat in Ripon again.
As you stroll from stop to stop, you’ll walk by some of the city’s famous landmarks, including Ripon Cathedral. Along the way, your guide will share stories about Ripon’s past and present, from the thriving market to the famous Hornblower.
You’ll end the day in one of the city’s most popular pubs, which overlooks the picturesque River Skell. A day well spent, we think!
With your Ripon food tour tickets, you can also receive a 15% discount for Ripon Museums. Ask your guide on the day how to claim your discount.

Food
A tasting plate is included at each stop. Together, they are the equivalent of a hearty lunch. We recommend having a light breakfast beforehand.
Drink
Our guests have shown us that not everyone has the same thirst. Our Ripon food tour tickets include a drink at the first and last stop, with tap water available at many of the others. There are plenty of opportunities at several of the locations to buy extra beverages to accompany your tastings, should you wish to.
Dietary requirements
We can cater for specific allergies and dietary requirements, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets.
However, we cannot cater for all dietary or food preferences.
If you or someone in your party has an allergy, dietary requirement or food intolerance, please let us know on your booking form. You can also email email [email protected].
Walking distance
You’ll walk approximately one mile. There are some cobbled streets along the route, and a portion of the food tour is downhill.
What to wear
You will be walking between each stop, so please dress for the weather. We recommend wearing layers and comfortable footwear. The Yorkshire weather can be unpredictable, so you may also want to bring an umbrella and sunglasses with you.
Parking and public transport
There is a car park next to the meeting spot in Ripon Market Place. However, parking is limited to 30 or 60 minutes. We recommend parking at either the Cathedral or St Marygate car parks, as both are within a five-minute walk of the starting point.
You can visit Ripon from Harrogate and Leeds by bus on the number 36. You can also reach the city by bus from York on the number 82.
Minimum tour numbers
Due to rising operational costs, we have introduced a minimum tour size policy of four guests.
If your food tour has fewer than four participants, we will contact you one week before your selected date. You will have the option to pay a £50 supplementary fee to enjoy the tour as a private experience or reschedule to a different date with a larger group.
If someone books on your tour after you’ve paid the supplementary fee, we will get in touch with you to refund the £50.
Can I buy a gift voucher?
If you have a foodie in your life, why not treat them to a gift voucher? Their taste buds will thank you.
You book the voucher, let them pick the date and destination.

What people say about our food tours
EXCELLENT Based on 348 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor randjjVerified Excellent food tour York food tour started at 12 pm where we met Sara or tour guide, she was very friendly and started by giving us some of York's history. We start off at a cheese and wine venue followed by a Syrian mezze, then on to a brewery and food pub and finished at a restaurant for a sticky toffee pudding and a drink. All the venues were independent no chains, our tour lasted over three hours because we had a big friendly group, we would definitely do it again. many thanks to Sara for a great afternoon.Posted on Tripadvisor KarenSVerified York Food Tour My husband and I were gifted this for a birthday treat and what a treat it was. Joined by 2 other lovely couples we were taken to 4 very different food venues over a 3 hour period. A Syrian starter, main course at a local brewery, a fantastic sticky toffee pudding desert and finished off with a cheese and wine pairing. Jill was a great host, very knowledgable. A lovely way to spend an afternoon in York.Posted on Tripadvisor Ben MVerified The best way to get to know Harrogate We were delighted to be guided around the Harrogate food scene by Kay.
